Calculous prostatitis in men is a prostate disease caused by various causes. This pathology is treated on an outpatient basis with the help of drugs, physiotherapy and folk remedies. You can drink vitamin complexes and compounds that strengthen the immune system. Treatment must be comprehensive. When the first symptoms appear, you need to consult a doctor. The sooner this pathology is detected, the faster recovery will come.
Calculous prostatitis in men: what is it
Calculous prostatitis is a complication of chronic inflammation of the prostate, which consists in the formation of calculus (stone) in the excretory ducts of the prostate. The peak of this pathology falls on 30-39 years. This is associated with an increase in cases of chronic prostatitis, which develops against the background of sexually transmitted diseases.
In men aged 40-59 years, the appearance of this pathology can be associated with prostate adenoma (prostate glandular tissue growth), and in people over 60 years old, with the death of sexual function. Depending on the cause of their formation, stones are real (primary) or fake (secondary). The primary ones are formed in the ducts of the gland, and the secondary ones move to the prostate from the upper urinary tract (kidneys, bladder and urethra) if the patient has urolithiasis.
Calculous prostatitis is caused by inflammation of the prostate. Disruption of prostate discharge occurs due to irregularity or lack of sexual intercourse, as well as a sedentary lifestyle. Against the background of the infection, stones form in the person, due to which the secretion in the prostate stagnates.
In addition, the development of this disease leads to an abnormal reflux of a small amount of urine from the urethra into the prostate ducts during urination. Because of this, the salts in the urine crystallize, thicken and turn into stones. Prostate stones are chemically the same as bladder stones:
- oxalate (appears due to the formation of oxalic acid salts);
- phosphate (formed against the background of violation of the synthesis of phosphoric acid);
- urate (form uric acid salts).
Main symptoms and types
The main symptom of calculous prostatitis is pain. It is dull and painful in nature, and is located in the perineum, scrotum, above the pubis, in the sacrum and the tailbone. The painful syndrome is aggravated by acts of defecation (excretion of faeces), sexual intercourse, physical activity and prolonged sitting on a hard surface, as well as long walking.
Patients complain of frequent urination or complete retention of urine. Urea contains blood impurities (hematuria) or hemospermia (appearance of blood plasma in seminal fluid). People suffering from this disease are characterized by:
- decreased libido (sexual activity);
- weak erection;
- violation of ejaculation (discharge of seminal fluid during sexual intercourse);
- painful ejaculation.
In the absence of therapy, patients may develop complications in the form of:
- kidney disease;
- cystitis (inflammation of the urinary tract);
- infertility;
- abscess;
- urine retention.
Treatment
Calculous prostatitis in men is treated with antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition, vitamins are actively used in therapy to strengthen immunity, anti-inflammatory drugs, prebiotics (after taking antibiotics) and other drugs. Sometimes surgery is used to remove the stone. This method is indicated when drug therapy does not give positive results for a long time.
Of the physiotherapeutic methods used:
- magnetotherapy (exposure to a magnetic field);
- laser treatment (stone removal);
- electrophoresis (use of electricity);
- EHF-therapy (radiation with low frequencies).
In case of calculous prostatitis, prostate massage is strictly prohibited. The most effective method is stone crushing with a laser. In a few sessions, stones can be removed naturally. Sometimes the doctor prescribes exercise therapy (physiotherapy exercises) in the form of gymnastics, exercises to reduce and relax the anal muscles.
